Frequently Asked Questions

What is expected from me as a tenant?

As a tenant, we ask that you respect the property, your fellow residents, your neighbours & the terms of your tenancy agreement. This includes keeping your room and shared spaces tidy, following any safety guidelines provided, and communicating promptly with staff about any issues or changes in your circumstances. We’re here to provide support, but a good tenancy works best when we work together towards independent living.

What support is included with my tenancy?

These types of tenancies includes additional support tailored to your needs. This may involve regular welfare check-ins, help with budgeting or accessing benefits, guidance on maintaining the property, and signposting to external services. Our aim is to help you maintain a safe and stable home environment, whilst working towards independent living

How do I report repairs or maintenance issues?

If you notice something that needs repairing or isn’t working as it should, you can report it directly to our maintenance team via phone, email, or our online reporting system. We categorise repairs by urgency—emergency issues are dealt with immediately, while routine repairs are scheduled as quickly as possible.

Can I have visitors stay overnight?

Visitors are welcome during reasonable hours, but overnight stays may be restricted to ensure the safety, security, and comfort of all residents. Please check your tenancy agreement and speak to your housing officer before inviting anyone to stay overnight.

What is the process if I want to move out?

If you decide to leave, please give us sufficient notice, this will allow us to support you in finding a more suitable property. We can then process your departure, carry out inspections.

How often are safety checks and inspections carried out?

We carry out regular safety checks in line with government regulations. This includes monthly fire alarm tests, quarterly property inspections, and annual gas and electrical safety checks. These checks ensure the property remains safe, compliant, and well-maintained.

What are my responsibilities as a tenant in shared spaces?

Shared spaces—such as kitchens, bathrooms, and living areas—are for everyone’s use. We ask all tenants to clean up after themselves, store personal items neatly, and treat the space with care. This helps create a pleasant environment for everyone.

How are utility bills and council tax managed?

In most supported living accommodation, utilities and council tax are managed by the property management firm. This means we handle all payments directly, so you don’t have to worry about separate bills. However, we still encourage tenants to use energy and water responsibly and share this payment information with them to help them understand the requirements of independent living.

How does Clearway Homes ensure the property meets compliance and safety regulations?

We adhere strictly to local authority compliance and safety requirements, carrying out regular inspections, safety checks, and maintenance. Our properties are equipped with the required fire safety measures, electrical certifications, and gas safety records. We also train staff to stay up to date with changing legislation.
